“Celebrate Mash 49 with Victory in Mind”’ 

Guyana’s “Mashramani”, with its name rooted in the culture of its indigenous Amerindians, means “the celebration of a job well done".  

It is popularly referred to as “Mash”, and is observed on the 23rd of February – Guyana’s Republic Day – to commemorate the “Birth of the Republic”. The festivities climax with Republic Anniversary celebrations on February 23rd and Mashramani has since evolved into a genuine national cultural event.
